Every year, New Orleans shuts down and throws the party of parties. Mardi Gras reflects and defines the cultural traditions of New Orleans and is spreading throughout the world fast. The city's largest celebration, Mardi Gras, has been called "the greatest free show on Earth." The first official New Orleans Mardi Gras began in 1837. The first day of the Carnival season is always January 6th (which is twelve days after Christmas). This is called the Twelfth Night (Kings Night) and marks the beginning of the private masked balls that are held until Mardi Gras Day. The Mardi Gras parades consist of floats holding the krewe members, who throw doubloons, beads and other items to the people lining the streets. Many "parade-goers" either wear a costume or purple, green and gold when attending the parades, and scream "Throw me somethin' Mister!" to the krewe members on the floats. Marching bands and celebrities on floats are also included in the parades. Mardi Gras Day (Which is always Fat Tuesday) is the last and greatest day of the carnival season.

Did you know that many of the symbols that Christians use in their worship to Jesus are used in the Mardi Gras celebration? The Christ-mass tree is left standing from Christ-mass but redecorated with Mardi Gras colors and symbols. The many symbols they use come from Halloween, and Easter. Fat Tuesday is the day before Lint, (Ash Wednesday) which is the Catholic Church's 40 day fast before Easter. Carnival can run as long as two months, depending on the church calendar. This ties in with the Catholic belief that Jesus was baptized on January 6th, which is called the Feast of the Holy Theophany (Epiphany) of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Feast commemorates the Baptism of Christ and what is called the divine revelation of the Holy Trinity.

They teach that at the Baptism of Christ, all three Persons of the Holy Trinity-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-were made manifest. Thus, the name of the Feast is Epiphany, meaning manifestation, or Theophany, meaning manifestation of God. This my friend is not scriptural in any way. The truth is that The 6th of January was designated as the feast day of Epiphany because on that day was the birthday of Aeon, the patron god of Alexandria. The Gnostics had designated Christ as one of the Aeons in their elaborate pagan system, and the Catholic Church adopted this idea in order to please the Gnostics.

They also have in the Mardi Gras celebration what is called the King Cake which gets it's origins from the Epiphany, celebrated in European countries which they believe marks the coming of the wise men who brought gifts to the Christ Child. Epiphany is also called Little Christmas on the Twelfth Night, and is celebrated twelve nights after Christmas. People from all over the world celebrate Epiphany by exchanging gifts and feasting.

A King Cake is a ring cake decorated with sweet purple, gold and green frosting. The three colors of the sugar are Purple (representing Justice), Green (representing Faith) and Gold (representing Power). In every King Cake there is a little plastic baby representing the baby Jesus. The person who is lucky enough to bite into the piece of King Cake with the plastic baby gets to buy the next King Cake for the next King Cake party which is customarily the next day.

Another aspect of Mardi Gras is the orgies which truly are the main attraction. Sex is free in the most absolute way one can even imagine. One example is That this year will mark the 40th anniversary of the Bourbon Street Awards, presented by Oz New Orleans and sponsored by Bud Light, these awards are one of the highlights of Gay the carnival. The homosexual crowd loves Mardi Gras because it gives them the freedom to express their true nature. They can act-out in all sexual ways on the streets in front of the world and not feel threatened at all. I believe that this will become a trend around the world in the near future as Mardi Gras is accepted. I can predict this because I know that when Pandora's box is opened it will spread like a wild fire out of control.

It may surprise you but many professing Christians indulge in Mardi Gras every year, and what they are not realizing is that Mardi Gras is truly the worst of Sodom and Gomorrah. Many Christians who do not participate in this and understand it's evil have the unfortunate attitude that it is not important to them because it is far removed to the shores of South Louisiana. Is this true? Should Christians ignore this outright open city of sin just because it is not yet in their town? The fact is that Mardi Gras is quickly spreading around the world. From our research we find it already in the following cities. New Orleans, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, La., and hundreds of small towns in the South. We find it in San Diego, Calif., North Shore at Cape Ann Massachusetts, Chicago, Ill., Los Angeles, Calif., San Francisco, Calif., Washington, DC. Galveston, Texas. Pensacola, Fl., and as far away as Scotland, Africa, India, China, and Sydney Australia. When will it come to your city or town?

Pre- Christian Origin
Where did this festival come from? Springtime pagan celebrations are the roots of the modern day Mardi Gras celebration. Ancient Greek and Roman festivals involved sacrifice, drunkenness, lewdness, immoral sex and revelry. In the parade of the pagans, false gods are worshiped by exalting an image above the assembly just like you see in the Mardi Gras parade. Pagan priests were accompanied by the idol and shower the crowds with spring flowers, herbs, grain and coins. Both good fortunes, spells, and curses were shouted during the old pagan parade and is done in the same way today, including the calls to the idol god to grant favor and blessings. One example of the pagan gods is Pan. It represents the spirit of the wild things and is represented as a half Goat, half man incarnation. He is also the satanic Goat of Mendez, which represents lust.

In an attempt to convert the masses the Catholic Church, fixed the pagan celebrated resurrection of Jesus around the astrological full moon of the spring equinox. Easter is pagan not Christian, and should not be celebrated by any true Christian Church as it allows the unscriptural religious celebration of Lent and ash Wednesday to follow Mardi Gras. Instead of resisting the ways of the pagans, The "church" absorbed many of these festivals in hopes that it would convert the pagans, but as I have stated before, the pagans strength in numbers and influence changed the Church and as a result we have voo-doo and sun worship ceremonies with Christian sounding names. If you do not believe this is true, please visit this page on our site. Sun worship

Truth On Lent
Lent is the time directly following Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) a time of gross debauchery when people 'get in all their sinning' in preparation of fasting for Lent.  It is clearly a pagan practice to observe Lent. Below is a commentary and a few quotes to show why.

Lent leads into Easter and this is how that came about: Queen Ishtar's son, Tammuz, was killed by a wild boar. Queen Ishtar told the people that Tammuz was now ascended to his father, Baal (also known as Nimrod), and that the two of them would be with the worshippers in the sacred candle or lamp flame as Father, Son and Spirit. Ishtar, who was now worshipped as the "Mother of God and Queen of Heaven", continued to build her mystery religion. The queen told the worshippers that when Tammuz was killed by the wild pig, some of his blood fell on the stump of an evergreen tree, and the stump grew into a full new tree overnight. This made the evergreen tree sacred by the blood of Tammuz. She also proclaimed a forty day period of time of sorrow each year prior to the anniversary of the death of Tammuz. During this time, no meat was to be eaten. Worshippers were to meditate upon the sacred mysteries of Baal and Tammuz, and to make the sign of the "+" in front of their hearts as they worshipped. They also ate sacred cakes with the marking of a "+" or cross on the top.

"The word Lent is of Anglo-Saxon origin, meaning spring." (Marguerite Ickis, The Book of Religious Holidays and Celebrations, New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1966, p.114)

"The celebration of Lent has no basis in Scripture, but rather developed from the pagan celebration of Semiramis's mourning for 40 days over the death of Tammuz (cf. Ezek 8:14) before his alleged resurrection---another of Satan's mythical counterfeits." (John MacArthur, Jr., The MacArthur New Testament Commentary: 1 Corinthians, Chicago: Moody, 1984)

"'It ought to be known,' said Cassianus, the monk of Marseilles, writing in the fifth century, and contrasting the primitive Church with the Church in his day, 'that the observance of forty days had no existence, so long as the perfection of that primitive Church remained inviolate.' Whence, then, came this observance? The forty days abstinence of Lent was directly borrowed from the worshippers of the Babylonian goddess." [The Two Babylons (Or The Papal Worship), Alexander Hislop, 1916, Neptune, NJ, Loizeaux Brothers, Inc., p.104]

Idolatry
Steeped in Egyptian, Grecian, and Roman fertility rites, the Mardi Gras parades celebrate and honor many false gods. The rest promote sex and drunkenness. But what does God tell us about this? Exod. 34:13-17 "But you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images 'for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), "lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods, and one of them invites you and you eat of his sacrifice, "and you take of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods. "You shall make no molded gods for yourselves."

This is what King Solomon did and God rejected him for it! Can we claim to be Christians and still be involved in this satanic activity? This brethren, is the same spirit that has contended against God for the souls of man since we were created. It is that same spirit which Satan works with to turn man away from our Holy God, and towards these false gods. What did the Apostle Paul tell us in 1 Corinthians 10:14? "Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry." And in John I 5:21. "Little children, keep yourselves from idols." We find more in Revelation 21:8. "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

Look at what Paul stated in 2 Corinthians 6:16-18 about Idols."And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." The other side of this statement would be if you don't turn from these idols I will not receive you.

And in John I 2:15-16. "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." Brethren, we should be working against the powers of darkness, not embracing them.

In closing I will leave you with this scripture…Ephesians 5:11. "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them."

It is hypocritical to instruct Christ centered living to include pagan rituals and beliefs such as Mardi Gras, Christ-Mass, or Easter . Christians who participate in these are promoting true Godlessness that comes from pagan origins. Satan wants us to accept these things into our lives and call them Christian in order to deceive us into the worship of demons and ultimately Satan himself. You see those that have continued in the pagan service of Christ-mass had an excuse because it appeared so nice and good with family time and the giving of gifts while helping the poor during this time that they stated was the birth of the Christ child…But! The true test is coming with “Mardi Gras” because it is obviously evil with ALL the trappings of Egypt, Rome, and pagan Greek gods and the many obvious pagan rituals. Yes Christ-mass was sold to the Christian Church because it seemed good but what is coming will be without a doubt against the true Messiah and His teachings so ask yourself this dear Christians… What excuse will those that claim to follow the Messiah use now?
